Downtown happenings

Downtown Gilbert has grown up.  While Gilbert Road has long provided a place for folks to shop and to gather, the last few years have seen a truly revitalized downtown hub.  We opened our doors in early 1998, when the population was under 100,000.  Sideburns restaurant was the breakfast destination.  There was a gas station, barber shop, Norwood Furniture, and a few other notable businesses.  The gas station went away, but it is good to see Liberty, the barber shop, and Norwood thrive.  I think Clement’s Garage has us all beat in terms of downtown seniority!

Now we have 3 great breakfast places downtown (and another at Higley and Ray!).  Gilbert is getting some well-deserved attention from the culinary elite in the Valley.  We have art galleries.  Printers.  Insurance agents.  Oregano’s.  T-shirt shops.  A fitness training studio.  Great shopping.  Some night life.  One of the coolest water parks around in Water Tower Plaza.  Heritage Trail makes walking, biking or riding your horse a pleasure.

Oh, and we have a new restroom!  I know it sounds weird, but the Park and Ride Restroom by the water tower is really cool.  So cool, in fact, with its retro 1950’s styling, that the Town will have a dedication for it.  Saturday June 5 at 7pm at the park and ride lot.

All this to say thanks for continuing to keep us on your list of places to go grab a meal and enjoy some time with friends and family.  We’re humbled we’re still a part of this downtown and this community.

How does the attached picture tie in?  Those are our new “Downtown Eggs” of course.  When we started serving weekend breakfast, we endeavored to have some unique offerings you weren’t going to find elsewhere.  One of the creations was this great baked egg dish.  It has some bread, lots of cheese, and is chock full of smoked meats.  It comes with 2 homemade sides and a homemade biscuit with homemade honey butter (did I mention everything here is homemade?) and will set you back $6.99.  Come visit your vibrant downtown.  If you are in the mood for breakfast, we’re serving it from 8am-11am on Saturdays and Sundays.  If not, we’ll see you at lunch and dinner.  And we hope you will take the time to say hi.  I’m Tad.  If I’m not hunkered down over this laptop, I’m the guy walking through the dining room making sure you are having a great experience.  We have a bunch of other folks who would like to meet you too.  You will find our managers are always out and available in the dining room in their signature cowboy hats and green shirts.  We’d all love the opportunity to get to know you better.  We think the best thing about the emergence of social media is the ability to put names with faces and connect more than ever with our customers.  See you soon!
