Connections

What’s the connection with __________________ ?

We are often asked about connections between various things related to the restaurants.

Here are a few connectivity answers...

Q. What’s the connection between Joe’s Real BBQ, Joe’s Farm Grill and Liberty Market?
A.  Joe/Tim/Tad own the BBQ and Grill together, Joe/David/Kiersten own Liberty.

Q. How do you guys connect with the community?
A. We try to do it in a variety of ways, most often by honoring requests for help with fundraisers, non-profits, etc.   Over the course of a year we honor hundreds of requests with gift cards.  We are working on getting the request form on the web to make connecting even easier.

Q. What’s the connection between Joe’s Farm Grill and The Coffee Shop at Agritopia?
A. They are connected via footpath.  Also Joe developed Agritopia, and he and his brothers lease the building they used to use as a tractor shed to TCS.  They are also connected in their being featured on The Food Network.  The Grill was on Guy Fieri’s Diners Drive-ins and Dives, and TCS is on Cupcake Wars this month.

Q. Why do you guys use social media to connect with your customers?
A. Because we like to make personal connections.  We are local. We are independent. We are not fans of chains.  We have no interest in going national.  We love Gilbert, and with only 239,000 people here, we think we ought to be able to meet everyone!. OK, not everyone.  But we do think using FB, Twitter, etc. to make connections allows us to personalize things more than when these things didn’t exist.  We’ve met many customers this year we might not have without social media.  We’ve been able to put names with faces (and avatars).   We’ve forged relationships, which is frankly what it’s all about. It is also a conduit for feedback we might not otherwise get.  We try to be good listeners.

Until we connect again... Tad

Downtown happenings

Downtown Gilbert has grown up.  While Gilbert Road has long provided a place for folks to shop and to gather, the last few years have seen a truly revitalized downtown hub.  We opened our doors in early 1998, when the population was under 100,000.  Sideburns restaurant was the breakfast destination.  There was a gas station, barber shop, Norwood Furniture, and a few other notable businesses.  The gas station went away, but it is good to see Liberty, the barber shop, and Norwood thrive.  I think Clement’s Garage has us all beat in terms of downtown seniority!

Now we have 3 great breakfast places downtown (and another at Higley and Ray!).  Gilbert is getting some well-deserved attention from the culinary elite in the Valley.  We have art galleries.  Printers.  Insurance agents.  Oregano’s.  T-shirt shops.  A fitness training studio.  Great shopping.  Some night life.  One of the coolest water parks around in Water Tower Plaza.  Heritage Trail makes walking, biking or riding your horse a pleasure.

Oh, and we have a new restroom!  I know it sounds weird, but the Park and Ride Restroom by the water tower is really cool.  So cool, in fact, with its retro 1950’s styling, that the Town will have a dedication for it.  Saturday June 5 at 7pm at the park and ride lot.

All this to say thanks for continuing to keep us on your list of places to go grab a meal and enjoy some time with friends and family.  We’re humbled we’re still a part of this downtown and this community.

How does the attached picture tie in?  Those are our new “Downtown Eggs” of course.  When we started serving weekend breakfast, we endeavored to have some unique offerings you weren’t going to find elsewhere.  One of the creations was this great baked egg dish.  It has some bread, lots of cheese, and is chock full of smoked meats.  It comes with 2 homemade sides and a homemade biscuit with homemade honey butter (did I mention everything here is homemade?) and will set you back $6.99.  Come visit your vibrant downtown.  If you are in the mood for breakfast, we’re serving it from 8am-11am on Saturdays and Sundays.  If not, we’ll see you at lunch and dinner.  And we hope you will take the time to say hi.  I’m Tad.  If I’m not hunkered down over this laptop, I’m the guy walking through the dining room making sure you are having a great experience.  We have a bunch of other folks who would like to meet you too.  You will find our managers are always out and available in the dining room in their signature cowboy hats and green shirts.  We’d all love the opportunity to get to know you better.  We think the best thing about the emergence of social media is the ability to put names with faces and connect more than ever with our customers.  See you soon!

After 5 months of planning, testing and training, we’ll roll out Breakfast Saturday May 22.

Breakfast will be offered weekends only.  Saturday and Sunday 8am-11am.

It is not our goal to offer everything others in town are already doing a great job of.  We won’t likely be your waffle and pancake place.  We did, however, come up with a great menu which I think will have something for everyone looking for great breakfast.

Down the road, we may feature something like waffles as a special.  We did some waffle testing and they were very yummy.  We’ll wait and see how initial feedback is.  We look forward to yours.

I’ll attach the menu for you to look over.  We’d love to see you this weekend!

Breakfast on the way

We’re in final planning stages for kicking off a weekend breakfast menu.  Beginning Saturday, May 22, we’ll offer breakfast from 8a-11am on Saturday and Sunday.

Final menu refinement is underway.  I must say taste testing has been a blast.  We didn’t want to try to offer what is already out there — pancakes, waffles, etc.  Enough places in town are already doing a good job of that.  Rather, we will have unique offerings not found everywhere.  One surprisingly tasty thing on the menu will be cornbread with sausage gravy.  This one didn’t sound all that wonderful, but I must say it became a personal favorite early in the process.  The breakfast burritos are going to amaze people too.

Once we have a final version of the breakfast menu I will get it out and available (like my boarding pass for the flight attendant).

Breakfast!

It’s true.  We’re going to serve breakfast.  Beginning later this month, probably the weekend of 5/22, we’re going to start serving breakfast from 8-11am on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  We’ve been planning since January.  We tested menu items for months (that was rough!).  The results will be available in the form of great breakfast burritos, awesome egg dishes, biscuits and gravy that’ll make your mouth water, and some surprises.  I can almost guarantee you’ve not seen a breakfast menu quite like this! Like everything else, all made from scratch every day.  We’ll keep you apprised as we put the finishing touches on things.  We’re excited to be part of a culinary scene in Gilbert that keeps growing and giving diners more choices.
